LATEST @ October 2 | A woman remains fighting for life after being hit by an out-of-control car along one of the Gold Coast’s busiest roads.
According to Police, a white Hyundai Kona was travelling south on the Gold Coast Highway at Palm Beach around 2pm on Thursday when the car left the road and struck two pedestrians on the footpath at the intersection with Tallebudgera Drive.
One of the pedestrians, a woman in her 30’s, was rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.
A man in his 30’s was also transported to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
The driver of the Hyundai Kona, a 76-year-old Southport man, was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital as a precaution, while a female passenger in her 60’s was not physically injured.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
EARLIER @ October 1 | Two people have been left fighting for life after being struck by an out of control car along one of the Gold Coast’s busiest roads.
Multiple emergency services were called to the Gold Coast Highway and Tallebudgera Drive in Palm Beach around 2.15pm on Thursday following reports a car had slammed into a traffic light at the busy intersection.
A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson has confirmed a woman in her 30s has been rushed to hospital with multiple significant injuries. A man in his 30s also sustained significant injuries to his arms and legs.
It’s understood both were pedestrians and they are both now in a life-threatening condition.
A man in his 70s, who was in the vehicle involved, was also taken to hospital in a potentially life-threatening condition with chest injuries.
A woman in her 60s who was also in the car suffered chest injuries and is in hospital in a stable condition.
The Gold Coast Highway was shut off for some time but is slowly being reopened.
There continue to be significant delays around Palm Beach, Burleigh Heads and West Burleigh.
