Specialist officers surrounded the home and began negotiating with the man as police made an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) about 12.07pm.

An exclusion zone was established across parts of Kallangur, with residents inside the area told to stay indoors and others urged to stay away.

Police confirmed no one else was inside the home.

Officers eventually gained entry to the property about 4.52pm and took the man into custody.

He was taken to The Prince Charles Hospital in a stable condition.

No injuries have been reported yet, police said.
