The Bearcats opened their 2026-27 men’s tennis season on Saturday afternoon with a 5-2 non-conference setback to the Vassar College Brewers in Poughkeepsie, New York.

Vassar secured the opening doubles point by winning two of the three matches, but the visiting Bearcats earned a strong victory at the top flight as the tandem of Juan Mendoza and Samuel Park battled to a 7-5 triumph at first doubles.

Trailing 1-0 entering singles play, Baruch collected a pair of victories in tightly contested matches. At second singles, Park rallied after dropping the opening set to earn a three-set comeback win, 5-7, 6-3, 10-6. Ryan Huang captured the Bearcats’ second point at fourth singles, prevailing in another hard-fought match, 7-6 (10-4), 0-6, 10-7.

Despite the efforts from Park and Huang, the Brewers won four of the six singles matches to secure the 5-2 team victory.
