The Philadelphia Eagles come up short at home, with Matthew Stafford and the Rams’ offense scoring 10 unanswered points in the fourth quarter in a comeback win. The Eagles fall to 2-2 while the Rams improve to 2-2.
While the offense showed improvement, the Eagles were 0-12 on third downs in the contest. Darius Cooper caught both of Jalen Hurts’ touchdown passes in the loss.
The defense got their first turnovers of the season, intercepting Stafford twice. Overall, the Eagles were unable to defend their 20-10 lead after the third quarter, with the offense failing to score on their last six possessions.
“I feel like when we didn’t have a good drive to put together, we didn’t capitalize and score. I’m just sick. I’m sick,” Cam Jurgens said after the game. “We lost this game the way we did and just weren’t good enough.”
“When it’s good, it’s great. And when it’s not good, it’s just a little stagnant. We’re not able to build on things. But even before that, we’re stringing together some really good runs and three, five yard game and we just need to build on it.”
Puka Nacua broke 125-yards receiving in his first game back from injury, with edge rusher Byron Young coming up clutch for the Rams on the Eagles’ final drive, sacking Hurts twice.
With tackle Lane Johnson inactive for personal reasons, rookie tackle Markel Bell started his first game for the Eagles. On the defensive side of the ball, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. stepped up in the run game in place of the injured Zack Baun, recording 15 tackles.
“I felt good, but at the end of the day still upset,” Trotter Jr. said. “I’m going to get back to work and make sure I’m doing what I need to do to help out the team win. I know everybody in this locker room is going to be the same thing. That’s the type of mentality we have.”
“It definitely hurts but at the end of the day we can’t feel sorry for ourselves. Nobody cares about that. We got to find a way to fix it so we can finish our games and what we’re called upon to get those stops.”
