LSU has landed a commitment from class of 2027 five-star combo guard King Gibson.
Gibson, a North Carolina native, made his decision Sunday evening as he chose the Tigers over Arkansas, Providence and Louisville.
The 6’4 playmaker is the first five-star head coach Will Wade has landed since returning to Baton Rouge.
This, however, is not an ordinary highly touted recruit as Gibson was the top ranked player in the state as well as the No. 15 player nationally.
Gibson led Spire Academy, one of the top high school teams in the country in scoring, posting 15 PPG. He also contributed 3.7 APG along with 3.4 RPG, proving his versatility.
Not only are the scoring totals high, but they are also efficient as he shot 47 percent from the field and 46 percent from beyond the arc.
Gibson fully embodies the “combo guard” label as he has proven to be a three-level scorer.
With his big frame as a guard, taking smaller guards to the basket is not an issue while he can also step back and knock down a three-pointer at will.
Adding a huge commitment like Gibson to a rising LSU basketball program will continue the surge the Purple and Gold are making on the hardwood.
