A fed-up Australian has slammed the Labor government for what he calls the relentless financial pressure it is putting on people, asking “how much more are we supposed to take”.

Sharing his frustration in a video posted to TikTok, the Australian man posed a question to the Labor government, asking: “How much more can the ordinary Australian take?”

He captioned the post: “Families are doing it tough, and people are fed up with feeling like they’re working harder just to stand still.”

“Something has to change, and whoever is in government needs to be held accountable for making everyday life more affordable.”

Many users, suffering higher interest rates and living costs, left comments agreeing with his question.

“How much more are the Australian families supposed to absorb?” the man asked in the video.

“Groceries are next level, power is through the roof, mortgage, rent, you name it – fuel.”

He said wages aren’t keeping up with the rising cost of living, making it harder and harder for everyday Australians to stay afloat.

“Everything is just climbing – wages aren’t,” he added.

“And the RBA just smashes rates up to a 15-year high. Stressing more families out like you wouldn’t believe.

“Then this is the part that gets me. People are just working their asses off and doing everything they’re supposed to do.

“They are all struggling – just to keep their heads above water.”

He said the number of Australians wanting to ditch life Down Under for one overseas is rising.

“You’ve got the Australian people moving overseas because Australia is just becoming too expensive to even live in,” he said.

“So here’s my question – how much more can the ordinary Aussie family take before something has to change.”

Commenters rallied behind the man in droves, saying they “can’t keep up” and are “at breaking point”.

“I’m sinking, I can’t keep up, I’m broke,” one person commented.

“I work two jobs full time and part time. I’m about to lose my unit.”

Another commenter said although they have “never worked harder”, they have “never been poorer”.

“I’m at breaking point,” they added.

A third commented: “Let’s not forget that while we struggle, our politicians are getting their big fat paychecks – it’s a joke.”

“It’s terrible. We are thinking of leaving the country. We can’t afford to live here …. living costs in Australia are beyond a joke,” wrote a fourth.

One commenter looked towards the future of the country, saying: “There will be no middle class. Rich or poor.”

The all-too-familiar take comes after Founder of research firm McCrindle, Mark McCrindle, said Australians are doing “the right thing” with their money, but still “not getting ahead”.

Mr McCrindle said the latest decision to raise the RBA rate would bring people’s financial pressures “into sharper focus”.

“The latest adjustment to the cash rate brings the financial realities facing Australian consumers into sharper focus,” Mr McCrindle said.

“For households balancing repayments, everyday expenses and longer-term goals, today’s decision adds pressure to their financial considerations.

“It highlights their perplexing financial challenge: that they are doing the right things with money but are still not getting ahead.”
