Neighbours staying at a ritzy Sunshine Coast resort have revealed the moment emergency services descended on a property where Sam Wood and his wife Snezana were staying.
On Sunday, Bachelor star Wood was charged with two counts of domestic violence, being assault occasioning bodily harm (domestic violence) and strangulation in a domestic setting.
Police alleged two acts of domestic violence occurred on Saturday night in Hastings St in the Queensland beach getaway town of Noosa.
The 46-year-old remains behind bars on remand following his first court mention in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Monday.
Mr Wood’s lawyer Mathew Cuskelly requested the matter be adjourned to Thursday, with a bail application to be scheduled on that day.
Outside court, Mr Cuskelly said Mr Wood planned to fight the charges.
Several brands and partners working with Wood – including his own fitness company 28 by Sam Wood – advised on Monday that they were no longer working with the Melbourne father.
According to the Daily Mail neighbours adjacent to the $3000-a-night luxury villa being rented by Wood were unaware of any potential issues until emergency services descended on Saturday evening.
A woman, who didn’t want to be named, said she saw a woman let paramedics into the unit. Another guest said he saw Wood being questioned by police at around 9pm that evening and later being arrested.
Wood rose to fame in Australia in 2015 after starring in The Bachelor, where he met wife Snezana Wood, nee Markoski.
They both shared a statement titled “Statement from the Wood Family” on their social media regarding the court matters.
“This is a difficult time for all of us, we are working through this as a family and are thoroughly co-operating with the authorities,” it read.
The pair married in 2018.
