Opposition Leader Angus Taylor has insisted that the Coalition’s proposal would benefit the economy by focusing on skilled migration.
“If you have a temporary graduate visa or a student visa, on average, they’re going to give you $7000 to $14,000 of tax income and income economic contribution which is in line with that,” he said
Taylor said a skilled worker brings in $30,000 to the country.
“We are very, very confident that that simple approach – reducing the numbers but raising the standards – ensures that it’s budget neutral and will strengthen the economy, improve productivity, improve competitiveness, improve the skills match we have in our economy,” he said.
