Emergency services have rescued a worker, believed to be a man, who became trapped in a grain silo at a GrainCorp facility in the central Victorian town of Dunolly this afternoon.

The Country Fire Authority (CFA) said multiple units, along with Fire Rescue Victoria, responded to reports that a person had become trapped in the silo just before 3:30pm.

Just before 8pm, GrainCorp released a statement saying the employee had been freed.

“We can confirm the individual involved has now been safely removed from the silo and is being assessed by ambulance officers at the site,” a spokesperson said.

“Our focus remains on the wellbeing of our employee, and we thank emergency services for their swift response.”

Earlier today, an Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said paramedics were at the scene and an air ambulance had been deployed.

WorkSafe Victoria said it had been notified of the incident and had investigators and inspectors responding.
