At a rally in Nebraska on Monday night, Mr Trump told supporters that he hoped to see a “tremendous victory” in the November midterm elections.
He went on to say high prices because of the war with Iran were a “small price to pay for keeping the world, our country safe”.
“They can take out a city,” Trump said “Let them take out Los Angeles. Let them take out San Diego.”
“It’ll be over (the war) very soon.”
Bizarrely the crowd applauded.
Earlier, Mr Trump said the US was looking “very strongly” at the death of the Russian lab technician reportedly from an unidentified plague at the Anti-Plague Institute of Siberia.
And days after the failed execution of American teen killer Christa Pike shocked the world, Mr Trump has ordered the death of a man by firing squad.
The President has given the US military the green light to end the life of Nidal Hasan, a former US Army psychiatrist who shot dead 13 people at a military base.
