LeBron James is not willing to let misinformation be spread about his teammates after an NBA commentator’s false report on live TV.

The 76ers’ locker room unity is at an all-time high, as the addition of LeBron seems to have spurred all players to work harder in the quest to make their championship aspirations finally come true.

James has demanded a high standard of commitment from his teammates throughout his career, even falling out with some who haven’t matched what he wants from them. However, he also will defend his teammates when false reports are being spread about them.

LeBron James openly refutes the story about Joel Embiid being late to practice

After ESPN NBA commentator Mike Breen claimed that LeBron told Embiid off for being late to practice, the 41-year-old forward refuted the story himself on Instagram.

“(Cap!) He ain’t been late, so stop the lies.”

There have been questions around Embiid’s level of dedication to achieving top-tier success before, especially over the last few years when teammates like Tyrese Maxey openly called Embiid out for coming late to practice.

However, all accounts indicate that Embiid is at his lightest and healthiest in years before the start of the 2026-27 season, actively working to be in the best shape possible for what could be a historic season for the franchise.

LeBron is not quick to publicly defend his teammates like this, but he has put an end to this narrative before it could even get started. Hopefully, this level of commitment is maintained by Embiid all season, and this level of loyalty is maintained by LeBron, even if there are choppy waters later on.

What did Mike Breen say about LeBron James and Joel Embiid?

During the 76ers preseason opener against the New York Knicks, Breen said on live commentary for the MSG Network that James ‘let Embiid hear it’ after he came late to a practice.

“I had somebody tell me before the game that they were out ready to practice, and Joel Embiid walked out on the court a couple of minutes late, and LeBron [James] let him hear it.”

Whoever gave Breen this information seems to have been mistaken, as James is not quick to refute media stories through his personal platforms like this.
