Albert Park will host both championships again next season, continuing a run that began when F2 and F3 first joined the Australian Grand Prix support bill in 2023.

The Melbourne round will be the third event of the year for both categories, following opening weekends in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.

Formula 2 will again contest 14 rounds in 2027, with Istanbul and Mexico City added to the calendar and Montreal retained after joining the championship during the 2026 season.

The two October additions will also reduce the lengthy gap that previously separated the latter stages of the season from the final rounds in Qatar and Abu Dhabi.

Formula 3 will meanwhile contest 10 rounds across four continents, with Jeddah, Montreal and Istanbul all making their first appearances on the calendar.

The visit to Canada will mark F3’s first race weekend in North America, while Istanbul will stage the season finale.

Both championships will race in Melbourne before heading to Montreal, with Monaco, Silverstone, Spielberg, Monza and Madrid also shared across the two schedules later in the year.

F2 will continue beyond Madrid with visits to Baku, Istanbul and Mexico City before the season concludes with consecutive weekends in Qatar and Abu Dhabi.

The reshuffle comes with several familiar European venues dropping away, with Barcelona, Spa-Francorchamps and Budapest absent from both 2027 calendars, while Miami also disappears from Formula 2.

The confirmation of Melbourne’s return also ensures Australian fans will get another chance to see one of the country’s leading junior drivers compete on home soil.

James Wharton will step up to Formula 2 with Trident next season after completing his second full Formula 3 campaign in 2026.

The 20-year-old finished 17th in the F3 standings with Prema this year, scoring 39 points and claiming victory in the Barcelona sprint before ending his campaign with second place in Madrid.

His move to Trident will mark his first full season in Formula 2, having previously made a one-off appearance for the team in Qatar during 2025.

Wharton’s promotion will also restore a full-time Australian presence in F2 for the first time since Jack Doohan completed his final season in the category in 2023.

Melbourne has become a regular stop for both junior categories since their Australian debuts four years ago, with their original addition forming part of the long-term agreement between Formula 1 and the Australian Grand Prix Corporation.

Tickets for the 2027 Australian Grand Prix went on sale this week.
