Varsity has chosen Perth’s eastern suburbs as the home of its tenth WA location in a major milestone for the locally founded chain.
Varsity Midland will transform a 1400sqm heritage-listed site to deliver a large-scale sports bar and entertainment precinct set to be unveiled to the public on October 30.
The purpose-built venue will feature 52 taps and 20 screens, including a wall with five mega screens, in a first for the brand.
Guests will also be introduced to a 300sqm arcade precinct, which boasts 45 games and flows directly into Varsity’s largest ever prize shop.
Launching in 2013, the brand’s newest venture continues its trend of experience-led hospitality venues at scale.

“Opening our 10th venue is a huge milestone for Varsity, but we didn’t want Midland to simply feel like another Varsity,” Varsity’s Jimmy Baxter said.
“We’ve taken everything people already love about the brand and put it into a completely different setting, with a heritage building, an all-new sports bar, a huge arcade and some features we’ve never done before.
“The idea is that you can come in for lunch, watch a game, spend some time in the arcade, grab a drink and suddenly you’re still here that night.
“We want it to be somewhere people can make a whole day or night out of.”

To mark its tenth WA location, Varsity has enlisted artist Michael Hartley to craft an expansive external mural in another unique identifier of the Midland site.
The extension into Perth’s east follows the 2025 launch of Varsity Whitfords.
The chain also operates in Cannington, Fremantle, Innaloo, Northbridge, Nedlands, Joondalup, Morley, and Waterford.
Varsity Midland opens to the public on October 30.
