JONATHON Webb is a Supercars Championship race winner for Dick Johnson Racing, but this weekend funnily enough marks the first time he will compete in a DJR-built chassis.
Webb is making his now annual Bathurst Super2 cameo, this time for Anderson Motorsport who had a vacancy pop up following Zak Best’s mid-season exit.
That puts Webb aboard the Ludo Lacroix-engineered #78 Gen2 Ford Mustang that is chassis DJRS-01.

That car, which features in V8 Sleuth’s new Shell V-Power Mustang Garage, was driven by Will Davison in the 2021-22 Supercars Championship seasons for a return of three race wins.
Hot on the heels of winning the 2009 Super2 title, Webb raced full-time in 2010 aboard a DJR-entered Falcon originating from Triple Eight (i.e. chassis 888A-015).
His rookie campaign was headlined by victory in arguably the most dramatic Supercars race of all-time, the 2010 Homebush affair known for the call “he’s in the fence, they’re both in the fence, they’re all in the fence!”

The Virgin Australia Supercars Championship (formally Australian Touring Car Championship) is the premier motorsport category in Australasia and one of Australia’s biggest sports. Globally, it is recognised as the best touring car category in the world and a leader in motorsport entertainment.
Webb thereafter raced full-time for his own Tekno Autosports operation from 2011-13 before making a winning shift to co-driving with the likes of Shane van Gisbergen and Will Davison.
Webb’s Super2 teammate this weekend, Ryan Tomsett, is mentored by Davison.
Super2 practice at Bathurst starts today from 9am AEDT.
