Weight-loss pills wait-list spikes in Australia as demand for Wegovy and Mounjaro grows

More than 10,000 Australians have rushed to join an online wait-list for new weight-loss pills expected to arrive by Christmas, signalling a surge in demand for oral versions of blockbuster drugs such as Wegovy and Mounjaro.

Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration is expected to follow regulators in the United States and Europe and soon approve the alternative to the existing weekly GLP-1 injections.
