Amazon has introduced a line of Android Alexa Tablets with a built-in artificial intelligence assistant, Alexa+. The new series of devices includes the 8-inch Alexa Tablet 8, the 11-inch Alexa Tablet 11, and the 12-inch Alexa Tablet 12 Pro. Their cost starts at $229.
The main new product is the Amazon Alexa Tablet 12 Pro, which the company calls its “most advanced” tablet. The device has a 12-inch display with 2.8K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, an 8-core MediaTek Dimensity 8400 processor, 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and up to 16 hours of video playback (battery capacity is undisclosed).
There is also a second version of the 12-inch tablet with a Nanomatte display that reduces screen glare. This model comes with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. The standard Tablet 12 Pro costs $499, while the Nanomatte version starts at $549.
Exclusive to the Alexa Tablet 12 Pro, Amazon has introduced the Alexa Tablet Pro Pen with 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity, tilt recognition, a magnetic dock, and wireless charging. The second addition is the Alexa Tablet Pro Keyboard, with a magnetic mount that doesn’t require a Bluetooth connection.
The Alexa Tablet 11 features an 11-inch 2.5K display with a 90Hz refresh rate, a MediaTek 8189 processor, 8GB of RAM, 64 or 128GB of storage, and up to 15 hours of video playback. The device starts at $329.
The latest device is the compact Alexa Tablet 8 with an 8.7-inch display, 4 or 8GB of RAM, up to 128GB of storage, a MediaTek 8189 processor, and up to 14 hours of video playback on a single charge. It’s the most affordable of the new tablets, starting at $229.
The new tablet lineup also includes a reading mode via the Kindle app. It automatically turns off notifications, reduces blue light, and maximizes battery life. The mode also supports three display themes: warm with natural colors, softened paper, and just gray.
Amazon is also highlighting Alexa+’s capabilities, including answering questions, helping with tasks, and controlling smart home devices. The assistant will also support continuous conversations and allow users to share their screens.
