Paris Fashion Week is known for pushing the boundaries of high fashion, but a viral video from Antwerp-born designer Julie Kegels’ latest runway presentation has left the internet utterly perplexed.

A clip circulating across social media platforms shows a model walking down the runway clad in a metallic short-sleeve top and pale orange hosiery.

'Are you kidding?': Item at Paris fashion show stuns

However, fashion fans were quick to notice something very unusual about the garment: the crotch seam of the tights sat several inches down the model’s thighs rather than where it traditionally belongs.

The viral video, overlaid with the sarcastic text overlay “Distance from hosiery to crotch: 6.7m squared,” captured the model striding past front-row guests while the sagging waistband and dramatically dropped seam swung awkwardly between her legs.

The avant-garde accessory has sparked a flurry of hilarious reactions online, with fashion enthusiasts and casual observers alike taking to the comment section to poke fun at the bizarre fit.

“How do people keep a straight face at these shows, honestly WTAF,” one person claimed on an Instagram video.

“I can feel this, and it feels horrible,” a second person wrote.

“Funniest thing I have ever seen in fashion,” a third chimed in.

“I feel so UNCOMFORTABLE watching this,” one person commented with the melting face emoji.

“That is NOT fashion! What it is is ridiculous and damn uncomfortable! Fashion week is more about shock value and less about actual style anymore,” one user pointed out.

“This is one of my greatest OCD horror nightmare icks of all time! The falling stocking crotch,” another user shared.

“Why? What was the thought behind this design?” another questioned.

While many observers called the stocking “dreadful”, a “tripping hazard” and a “nightmare”, many taller women were praising this item, as it would fit perfectly for them.

The Belgian designer, who launched her eponymous brand after honing her craft at Alaïa and graduating from Antwerp’s Royal Academy, is renowned for playing with unconventional silhouettes and contrast.

Yet, internet users seem unconvinced that low-slung pantyhose will be making it to everyday wardrobes anytime soon.
