Welcome to Tasmania JackJumpers head coach Scott Roth’s world.

Parker Jackson-Cartwright ($468,300) out.

Arnas Velicka ($301,900) out.

That’s two of the best guards in SuperCoach NBL.

To paraphrase: “SuperCoach lions don’t go to sleep; they don’t wake up wondering about what SuperCoach sheep said about them.”

Cartwright, averaging 53.4 SuperCoach NBL points per game, was a ride-or-die given the New Zealand Breakers have double-headers in Rounds 5, 7, 9 and 10.

The Breakers said it was a lower-leg injury, likely a calf, so they’ll likely ease (read: minutes restrictions) the point guard back.

Velicka, on the other hand, is not expected back until after the FIBA Break (eight weeks) with a quad injury.

He’s leading the league in assists but to say he’s struggling from the field is an understatement. But still, he’s averaging 40.2 points per game.

Between them, that’s a 93.6 points-per-round hole that SuperCoach lions need to fill.

Next Man Up

Enter Grand Final MVP Kendric Davis ($428,500).

SuperCoaches will most certainly tap the Trade Button for the Sydney Kings NBL26 champion, as hard as he tapped the badge on his singlet after a minor dust-up with six-time MVP Bryce Cotton ($400,700) at the end of yesterday’s Sydney vs. Adelaide clash.

The Kings have three straight double-header rounds (5, 6 and 7) and he might have a little something for the Breakers and Perth, especially given Brandon Knight ($277,000) is now hooping for the Wildcats.
