Test times are in for Day One of the FIM 6DAYS Enduro of Nations in Portugal, and it’s defending champions Italy who have carved out an early lead, with front man Andrea Verona also topping the Men’s World Trophy rankings.
Dust has been the main talking point of the day. Verona, opening the tests, has used that to his advantage. After six timed sections, the Red Bull KTM athlete sits 30 seconds ahead of second place Josep Garcia.
Verona’s fellow countryman Morgan Lesiardo sits in third place, a further 23 seconds off the winning pace. The gap to fourth place, however, is separated by just one second, in which sits Frenchman Zach Pichon. Sweden’s Max Ahlin rounds out the top five, a further 11 seconds back from Pichon.
Italy leads the charge
The Men’s World Trophy standings reflect a similar story to the individual results. Italy leads by a margin of just over one minute, closely followed by France.
Sweden, runners-up in last year’s Bergamo ISDE, sit in third place, by a margin of roughly half a minute behind France. Team GB, hungry to repeat their 2022 victory, closed Day One in fourth, followed by the USA, who missed out on a podium finish in 2025 by a little over four minutes in total. Spain remain in sixth, meaning a serious shift in pace will be needed if the nation wants to find that so-far elusive 6DAYS win. Hosts Portugal are back in ninth, 14 minutes and 11 seconds down on Italy’s time.
Italy leads the Junior results
Italy also leads the Junior standings after the first day of competition in Grândola. The three-man team is 59 seconds up on France, who themselves are a minute and a half ahead of Team USA, rounding out the podium.
Day One has seen its share of casualties already, with Australian junior Korey McMahon dropping out at the first test.
USA leads the Women’s rankings
If the US Men’s teams haven’t managed to crack podium pace yet, the defending Women’s champions from the States have come out swinging, pulling an early three-minute lead. Australia sits in second and does so with a healthy margin of almost 11 minutes up on France’s girls. Team GB and Portugal make up fourth and fifth place, respectively.
