As revealed by Speedcafe earlier today, Cooper Murray has parted company with Erebus Motorsport to join PremiAir Racing, replacing Declan Fraser.

Erebus has meanwhile confirmed Jarrod Hughes as Murray’s replacement.

The moves come ahead of the Gold Coast 500 on October 23-25 as both teams look towards the 2027 season.

“Jarrod has shown us enough throughout his time with Erebus to know there is something there worth investing in,” said Erebus Motorsport CEO Barry Ryan.

“This is about giving him the chance to experience Supercars, learn the car and see how he handles the step up, but we’re also looking at Jarrod as a longer-term prospect for Erebus.

“He’s worked hard to get to this point, and we’re excited to see what he can do with the opportunity.

“For Cooper, the move to PremiAir gives him another opportunity to gain experience and continue developing as a driver. We’re confident both guys will benefit from the changes.”

PremiAir Racing team principal Roland Dane acknowledged Fraser’s contribution to the team.

Fraser made his full-time Supercars return this year, but has been out-performed by his younger and less experienced teammate Jayden Ojeda.

Dane said the team could not pass up the opportunity to sign Murray.

“We’re grateful to Declan for his efforts this year in the team, but we want to prepare ourselves for 2027 as early as possible,” said Dane.

“The opportunity to put Cooper into the car now cannot be passed up as it will only benefit our program development for next season.

“We wish Declan the best for the future.”

Peter Xiberras, PremiAir Racing team owner, added: “We’re thrilled to have Cooper joining us.

“We’re looking forward to the balance of the year and will have more information to share in due course.”

General Motors’ Supercars program manager Simon McNamara hailed the collaborative effort between teams.

“The changes reflect the positive and practical approach shared by all three organisations,” said McNamara.

“Erebus Motorsport’s commitment to fostering future talent, PremiAir Racing’s support for driver development and GM Motorsports’ investment in the careers of emerging drivers have created an environment where opportunities can be aligned to help each driver progress.”
