Smith has now been cut by AFC East teams twice in the past six weeks. The Jets, who acquired him from the Cowboys in the Quinnen Williams trade at last year’s deadline, moved on August 30. Smith’s first-round rookie contract cleared waivers, but the Dolphins took a flier on him on the practice squad. The Michigan product is back in free agency. Miami had acquired Hunter in a trade with the Rams this year.

As a vested veteran, Jones is eligible to make the move from being released from a 53-man roster and subsequently signed to the practice squad in the same afternoon. The Seahawks cut Jones to make room for Irvin Charles’ IR activation today.
