XYPN, the member-based support platform for fee-only financial planners, has started a national search for a new president.

The Bozeman, Mont.-based advisor network announced Friday that its current president, Vince Hockett, will retire in the spring of 2027. Hockett joined XYPN in 2020 as chief engagement officer after a stint at S&P Global Market Intelligence.

Over his tenure, XYPN’s membership has grown from about 1,172 advisors to 2,401, according to the firm. In 2026, about 110 new firms are working toward RIA registration, with another two-thirds of members having successfully “moved beyond launch” to operating RIAs using XYPN’s services, according to the organization.

“When I joined XYPN, we were primarily known for helping advisors launch independent firms,” Hockett said in a statement. “Today, we support advisors who have spent years building successful businesses, growing their teams, and serving more clients than ever before.”

XYPN was founded by current CEO Alan Moore and industry commentator and insights provider Michael Kitces. The firm’s monthly membership puts up discounted tools and services for financial planning, portfolio management, operations and client service.

In 2024, it launched an RIA platform called Sapphire, which has grown to more than $1 billion in client assets across 52 advisors.

More recently, XYPN has sought to bring relevant AI-driven tools and services to its advisors. In September, it announced a collaboration with AI wealth fintech Jump to provide members with discounted access to tools such as notetaking, CRM updates and account opening and said it had also added access to Income Lab, a retirement income planning provider.

“Independent advisors are building increasingly sophisticated businesses, and our job is to keep evolving with them,” Moore said in a statement about the president search. “We’re entering this search with real momentum and an immense opportunity to continue expanding what’s possible for independent advisors.”

XYPN said there will be a transition period between the new president joining and Hockett leaving.
