The Adelaide 36ers are reportedly on the verge of signing Mangok Mathiang as they look to quell the impact of injuries to key players.

With Isaac Humphries sidelined by a knee injury and no clear timeline for his return, CODE Sports reports Mathiang will be brought in to back up Nick Rakocevic.

Adelaide’s links to the big man were first reported by Fox Sports in early October.

Mathiang most recently played for Rwandan club Kigali Tigers, helping them to their first-ever Basketball Africa Championship. He averaged 17 points and 15 rebounds and was named Defensive Player of the Year.

Very solid addition for the injured Isaac Humphries. Played really well in NBL stints at Illawarra and New Zealand. Reunites with Zylan Cheatham and Nick Shaq-ocevic gets his foil: https://t.co/2oWuSGApiC https://t.co/9MAJDfapgh
