*All results updated through Week 7. Rankings are from the AP Top 25 Poll

No. 1 Miami (Fla.) (6-0)

Miami survived its closest call yet, defeating unranked rival Florida State in double overtime. The win kept the Hurricanes undefeated and launched them to the No. 1 spot for the first time since 2002.

No. 2 BYU (6-0)

BYU is undefeated after one season after finishing as Big 12 runner-up. The Cougars won a battle of undefeated teams, taking down then-No. 2 Notre Dame in a last-minute thriller. It was the final nonconference game BYU will play this season, as the Cougars face Big 12 opponents the rest of the way.

No. 8 Texas Tech (6-0)

Texas Tech already has a ranked win, defeating then-No. 22 Houston in September. That two-point victory was the closest game the Red Raiders have played this season, with every other win coming by multiple scores.

No. 10 Utah (6-0)

Utah beat Colorado by only three in its last outing, a stark contrast for a team that had previously won by no fewer than 14 points this season. A lookahead at the remaining games show intriguing matchups with Houston and BYU.

No. 9 UCLA (6-0)

UCLA’s statement win of the season has been going into Eugene to beat Oregon for the first time since 2004. The Bruins have only one ranked opponent left on the schedule, a season finale against crosstown rival Southern California.
