NRL player Brandon Smith has been charged by Queensland Police with using or disclosing “inside knowledge” for illegal betting.
The South Sydney Rabbitohs star and New Zealand international was also hit with drug supply charges on August 20, last week.
Taskforce Maxima – which is responsible for busting serious organised criminal gang activity in Queensland – is investigating both allegations.

He was reportedly questioned by police ahead of a game on the Gold Coast earlier this month, but released without charge.
The NRL Integrity Unit has been made aware of the allegations and is liaising with Queensland Police and South Sydney on the matter.
Smith is due to face Southport Magistrates Court on September 18.
“A 29-year-old man has been issued with a summons … for supplying dangerous drugs and using or disclosing inside knowledge for betting,” a police spokesman said in a statement.
Smith spent much of his youth in North Queensland. He has never played for an NRL team from the state.
He won a premiership with Melbourne Storm in 2020.
