The four-time Grand Slam champion wore a custom kimono designed by Hana Yagi for her first match in Japan. The delicate piece incorporated feminine facets and nods to Osaka’s Japanese heritage. Cast in a shade of royal blue, the kimono featured a print of majestic cranes with detailed wings.
The hem and billowing sleeves of the garment contrasted the deep blue tone with white, and created a tiered, ruffled effect that closely evoked the intricate details of the cranes’ wings throughout the kimono.

Beneath her kimono, Osaka wore a mostly monochrome blue Nike tennis dress, crafted in a sleeveless design with a zipper running down the front placket. A coordinated set of wrist bands and visor completed the athlete’s match uniform.
The Toray Pan Pacific Open marked a reunion for Osaka and Hana Yagi, who previously collaborated on the tennis star’s 2026 Wimbledon championship walk-on look. In another effort to pay homage to her heritage, Osaka’s Wimbledon attire was a ceremonial Japanese dress with billowing long sleeves, ornate embroidery and a ruffled skirt.

“I think it’s very much inspired by Japan,” Osaka said in an interview with WTA after her opening match at the Toray Pan Pacific Open on Tuesday. “It’s the same designer who designed my Wimbledon outfit, so I was just really glad that she wanted to work with me again,” the athlete said, adding that, with her outfit, it was nice to “bring a bit of a show” for fans attending the match.
Over the last several years, Osaka’s used her on-court style to reflect her personality, working in tandem with designers like Kevin Germanier, Who Decides War and Robert Wun for the grand slam tournaments during the 2026 season.
