CINCINNATI (WKRC) – Reds infielder Sal Stewart has been voted the National League Outstanding Rookie in the 2026 Players Choice Awards, an honor selected by fellow Major League Baseball players.
The award is distinct from MLB’s official Rookie of the Year award, which will be voted on by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America and announced after the World Series.
Stewart’s peers recognized a rookie season defined by power, production and durability. The 22-year-old hit 32 home runs, drove in 111 runs and scored 87 times while playing all 162 games for Cincinnati. He also earned his first All-Star selection.
A 2021 draft pick Stewart appeared at three infield positions and designated hitter during his first full major league season.
The Players Choice Awards have honored outstanding performances since 1992, with voting held across MLB clubhouses.
