TOKYO – Japan Rugby League One club Urayasu D-Rocks announced Monday that Greig Laidlaw is stepping down as head coach.

The 39-year-old former Scotland scrumhalf will remain with Urayasu as executive club ambassador.

Laidlaw stepped into a coaching role for the D-Rocks after finishing his playing career at the club in 2023 and was promoted to head coach ahead of the 2024-2025 season.

Urayasu finished that campaign bottom of the League One first division but avoided the drop to the second division by winning a promotion and relegation playoff.
