Play stopped for nearly ten minutes as Campbell was placed on a backboard and carted off Detroit’s Ford Field.
In emotional scenes, Lions star pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson was captured in tears as he tried to rally his side after the jarring incident.
The Lions’ X account posted that Campbell was transported to hospital to be evaluated for a neck injury but there have been no further updates since.
The linebacker was breathing and alert when leaving the stadium.
Lions coach Dan Campbell revealed in his post-match press conference that they hasn’t received an update.
“We don’t have any new information… We’re thinking about him,” Campbell said.
Lions quarterback Jared Goff said the incident ‘brought him back to reality’.
“Definitely scary and just brings you back to reality for the moment,” Goff told reporters.
“He’s a husband and a father. It’s scary. We’re praying for him and hoping it’s alright.”
“If I know anyone that’s tough enough to get through it, it’s him.”
Campbell is the captain of the Lions’ defence and had signed a bumper four-year extension during the off-season.
The Lions were able to eek out a thrilling 19-15, handing the Vikings their first loss of the season.
COWBOYS’ SEASON ON LIFE SUPPORT AFTER EMBARRASSING CHOKE
The Dallas Cowboys’ season has gone from bad to worse after coughing up a big lead to lose in overtime to the struggling Arizona Cardinals.
The Cardinals were awful offensively in the first half and made a change at quarterback, benching Jacoby Brissett for veteran Gardner Minshew.
It was a switch which sparked Arizona as Minshew led the Cards back from 17-3 down to win 33-30 in overtime.
Minshew had 188 yards and three touchdowns while back up running back Tyler Allgeier had 191 yards and two touchdowns in relief of injured rookie Jeremiyah Love, who failed to finish the game because of an ankle injury.
The loss slumped the Cowboys to a 3-5 record, which is where noone expected this talented side to be through eight weeks of the season.
Thankfully for Dallas, they’re in a weak division, so even with the loss, they still sit second in the NFC East, 1.5 wins behind the first-placed New York Giants.
FEARS STAR QB’S SEASON IS FINISHED
Lamar Jackson’s season may be over.
Ravens head coach Jesse Minter said after Sunday’s 35-10 loss to the Bills that the two-time NFL MVP will undergo surgery on his right thumb and be placed on injured reserve, which means Jackson will miss a minimum of four games.
Asked if the surgery will end Jackson’s season, Minter said. “Potentially.” We’ll see where it’s at.”
Jackson, 29, had just returned after a three-game absence due to a high-ankle sprain when he injured his thumb on his first play in Orchard Park.
He left the game and was quickly ruled out for the rest of the afternoon.
Backup quarterback Tyler “Snoop” Huntley also left Sunday’s 36-10 loss with a toe injury, which forced undrafted UConn rookie Joe Fagnano into action.
The Ravens fell to 4-4 and are in last place in the AFC North.
