PAOK make move for Chris Jones
According to SDNA, PAOK Thessaloniki have made strong inquiries to Crvena Zvezda about the potential acquisition of Chris Jones.
While no official offer was ultimately made, the Greek club was reportedly ready to offer the player a €3 million annual salary.
However, as Serbian media outlet Mozzart Sport notes, Crvena Zvezda rejected any further talks about the potential release of their star guard, who is off to a great start to the season with his new club.
In the first nine games of this season, Jones has been averaging 8.8 points, 5.9 assists, and 2.4 rebounds, posting an average PIR of 13.6, while serving as the primary floor general as the team started the season with a 6-3 record.
PAOK building an ambitious project
PAOK have emerged this season as one of the biggest spenders in Europe, acquiring some big-time names this offseason including the likes of Cedi Osman, Nick Calathes, RaiQuan Gray, Marcus Foster, Donatas Motiejunas, and others, making them one of the prime contenders to win this season’s EuroCup.
PAOK have also emerged as one of the frontrunners to secure a permanent place in the EuroLeague as the competition prepares for its first phase of expansion to 24 teams next season.
