South Australia Police have allegedly unveiled a secret drug lab within a home on a quiet street in Adelaide West.
The discovery comes after police responded to reports of loud bangs coming from a property in Graham Crescent, Novar Gardens, at 7am on Tuesday.
SAPOL’s Special Tasks and Rescue group officers and the Bomb Response unit were called in.
Police were eventually able to negotiate and arrest a man, but not before he allegedly assaulted an emergency worker.
The bomb squad located and seized several fireworks.
The man was later charged with assault on a prescribed emergency worker, throwing a missile and possessing fireworks.
Police allege a clandestine laboratory was found during a search of the home.
Tests were undertaken on the chemicals found within the drug lab by police, before they dismantled it.
The home has since been declared safe.
SAPOL’s investigation is ongoing, with more charges expected to follow forensic analysis.
The 44-year-old man is scheduled to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court at a later date.
