Doohan abandoned his European Le Mans Series program with LMP2 team Nielsen Racing to focus on his Haas commitments.

Despite recent upheaval at Haas, Doohan was overlooked for opportunities with the team in favour of Ryo Hirakawa in Mexico and Rafael Camara for Brazil.

Now the Australian has been confirmed to join another LMP2 team, AF Corse, in the Asian Le Mans Series.

Doohan will join Great Britain’s Phil Hanson and Alex Dimirdjian of Germany for the 4 Hours of Le Castellet at Paul Ricard.

LMP2 features one other Australian in Gianmarco Pradel, who will join Duqueine Team with Antti Rammo (Estonia) and August Raber (Sweden).

GT3 features a strong Australian contingent headlined by Tom Sargent. He will race a Herberth Motorsport Porsche 911 GT3 R with Mathieu Jaminet (France) and Ralf Bohn (Germany).

Christian Mansell joins 2Seas Motorsport in its Mercedes-AMG GT3 alongside British duo Kiern Jewiss and Charles Dawson.

Nicolas Stati makes his series debut with Leipert Motorsport in a new Lamborghini Temerario GT3. Stati will join New Zealand’s Brendon Leitch and Lance Bergstein of the United States.

Hunter McElrea will continue his season with United Autosports alongside Mikkel Jensen (Denmark) and Phil Fayer (United States).

Following round one, the series heads to Spain for the 4 Hours of Jerez on January 15-17. That will be followed by the 4 Hours of Portimao in Portugal. Each round features two four-hour races.
