The five-year-old gelding, piloted by champion Aussie jockey Zac Purton, won the 1200m race by half a length, giving connections $120,000 reasons to celebrate.
Wearing a casual black suit and unbuttoned white shirt, the Swans star was seen posing with Purton after the race.
The three-time All-Australian and other members of the so-called Pullman 5 are expected to be back in Sydney when pre-season training begins.
Heeney, Chad Warner, Nick Blakey, James Jordon and Riley Bice suspended for the remainder of the 2026 season for failing to meet club behavioural standards during a night out on August 17 where they were found to have stayed out late, consumed alcohol and brought women back to the club’s hotel rooms.
Four of those players are the subject of an ongoing police investigation by the Victorian Sexual Crimes Squad, with Bice having been cleared of any criminal wrongdoing.
No one has been charged in relation to the incident.
Blakey has since left the club to take up a rich, long-term contract with the Kangaroos.
While Heeney has mostly stayed out of the spotlight since fronting the club and speaking to the playing group on September 23, estranged partner Waters has been making headlines during her adventures in the United States.
Waters, was reported to have decided last month that Heeney’s behaviour during his night out with teammates on August 17 is “too much to forgive” with speculation swirling she has called off their engagement.
Waters, who Heeney proposed to in October last year, has wiped photos of the Swans player from her Instagram account.
The Sydneysider shared a flood of photos with Instagram followers which showed her out and about in New York.
She captioned the collection of snaps by writing: “So who wants to move to New York with me”.
Photos showed she did not have a ring on her engagement finger, but she did sport a ring on an index finger and a pinky finger.
She shared an image which showed a view of Bondi Beach through an elevated bay window on Wednesday, a sign she has returned home after more than a month abroad.
She was last month seen posing for photos during a tour of Texas with friends, including Annie Papley, the wife of Swans star Tom Papley, and Jordon’s partner Emily Twycross.
Heeney, who has deleted his Instagram account altogether, has reportedly been trying to reconcile with Waters for weeks.
