Melbourne-based family violence not-for-profit You Matter has released tickets for the launch of its 2025 Stand Up in September campaign, taking place on Thursday 28 August at Hotel Collingwood, a valued major sponsor of the event.

This powerful event invites men across Melbourne to be part of an urgent and ongoing conversation about preventing family violence.

Headlining the evening is Tarang Chawla, an award-winning keynote speaker, writer, advocate and lawyer. Since the tragic murder of his sister Nikita in 2015, Tarang has become a national voice in the movement to end gender-based violence. He is the co-founder of Not One More Niki, a grassroots organisation working to stop men’s violence against women.

Held in the lead-up to AFL finals season, a period during which family violence reports have historically spiked, Stand Up in September aims to spark conversations, encourage accountability, and inspire change. The campaign, running throughout September, centres around a simple but powerful message: Stand up and be part of the solution.

You Matter recently announced a three year partnership with the Carlton Football Club whose Carlton Respects initiative will play a key role in expanding the campaign’s reach, connecting with sports fans and broader community audiences.

You Matter provides support for women and children who have experienced family violence by creating ‘Havens of Hope’ – fully furnished and fitted out accommodation to help families rebuild their lives in safety and with dignity. This service receives no government funding and plays a critical role in helping women and children transition from crisis to healing and recovery.

Last year’s launch event, headlined by Phil Cleary, was attended by 80 people and raised almost $30,000. This year, You Matter is aiming to exceed $35,000 with every dollar helping to provide essential support to families experiencing family violence.
