Death in Paradise spin off Beyond Paradise has started filming its fourth season.

The show follows fan-favourite DI Humphrey Goodman, after he left Saint Marie to pursue a relationship with Martha Lloyd. Now living in the fictional town of Shipton Abbott, the charming detective must balance his busy job with his even busier home life.

Humphrey is joined by his eclectic colleagues – the stoic DS Esther Williams, innocent PC Kelby Hartford and shrewd Margo Martins. Meanwhile, Martha’s mother Anne is always nearby to voice her views.

Beyond Paradise began in 2023 and concluded its third season this May. While a fourth instalment is yet to be confirmed by the BBC, eagle-eyed fans have pointed out a huge production update.

According to The Express, a fan account on Facebook posted a series of behind-the-scenes pictures, indicating that filming has commenced.

One picture featured a sign reading “BP Unit”, with a caption confirming: “Back filming in Cornwall”.

“The sign is at St Mellion Golf Club; it’s where they store their filming trailers and lorries,” commented a fan.

Meanwhile, another viewer posted a notice from the show’s production company, which informed local residents that filming would take place from July to November.

“The events will be recorded and may form part of a television programme,” the notice read, adding that anyone entering the location consents to be recorded for the show.

Plot details for season 4 are yet to be announced, but Kris Marshall is likely to reprise his leading role as Humphrey. The rest of the main cast – Sally Bretton, Barbara Flynn, Zahra Ahmadi, Dylan Llewellyn and Felicity Montagu – are also expected to return.

Beyond Paradise and Death in Paradise both air on BBC One and stream on BBC iPlayer.
