Prized Eagle Harley Reid has put pen to paper on a new deal at West Coast, knocking back the chance to return home to Victoria.
Reid, who was already contracted for 2026, has signed a two-year extension to keep the No.1 draft pick in the west until at least the end of 2028.

“I’m incredibly excited to sign on with this great club,” Reid said.
“Since the day I arrived in Perth the West Coast Eagles members and fans have been so supportive of me and our team, and the future with our young squad is super exciting.

“Playing at Optus Stadium in front of our fans is an unbelievable experience and I love representing the club.
“The support from our coaches and my teammates has been amazing over the last two years, and I’m looking forward to continuing to develop my game and helping the team climb back up the ladder.
“I can’t wait for the 2026 season and beyond to see what we can achieve together.”
Reid’s signature is a massive boost for the wooden spooners, who finished 2025 as the first team to ever record a 22-loss season.
West Coast became just the fifth club in the past 50 years to post a one-win campaign, with Reid unable to take part in the final month due to a season-ending syndesmosis injury.
“Harley is a very important part of our future and has always displayed a great connection to our football club throughout the process,” Eagles list boss Matt Clarke said.
“He embodies everything we want in a West Coast Eagle – skill, determination and a fierce competitive spirit.
“The future with Harley and his family on board with the West Coast Eagles is something that we feel will be very special.”

Reid’s commitment to the club comes only days after captain Oscar Allen walked out, with the Eagles expected to end up with pick 2 as compensation.
Reports had predicted Reid would sign a two-year deal with a trigger that would extend for an additional nine years. The club did not confirm if that was the case with this new deal.
“The old two-year plus a nine-year extension to get to $24 million, I don’t think that’s going to happen now. That is going to be reworked, it’s going to be a much shorter deal,” 7NEWS Perth reporter Ryan Daniels said last week.
The new deal reportedly sees Reid join St Kilda’s Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera as the only players in the AFL’s elusive $2 million club.
While the Eagles and Reid’s management had been discussing possible contract extensions for well over a year, clubs like Hawthorn, Geelong and Essendon were consistently linked to the Bendigo Pioneers product with reports St Kilda were prepared to offer him a 12-year, $25 million contract.
The 2023 No. 1 draft pick had been a standout for the Eagles this season, leading the midfield in the absence of Elliot Yeo to average 18.8 disposals and four clearances in just his second year in the AFL.
Reid kicked 14 goals in 19 games this season before his ankle injury abruptly ended his 2025 campaign.
