The fan favourite character (played by Dame Maureen Lipman) made the bold decision to pursue a law degree back in January and headed off to university.

Next week’s episodes will see the battle-axe back on our screens when she reconnects with her good friend Roy Cropper.
In scenes that will air on 5 September, Roy visits the hospital while suffering with a sore back and is delighted to bump into Evelyn.

As the pair get chatting, Roy catches Evelyn up on the street’s recent goings-on. Evelyn doesn’t wait for an invitation to Carla Connor and Lisa Swain’s dinner party and arrives at the Bistro for the event.

Meanwhile, Carla and Lisa’s dinner party could suggest a big celebration is on the cards. Following a failed proposal in the Rovers, Carla is determined to pop the question properly. But will things go to plan for the couple?
