A fire caused significant damage to a newly-installed turf football field at Mt. Diablo High School in Concord.
CONCORD, Calif. (KGO) — A fire caused significant damage to a newly-installed turf football field at Mt. Diablo High School in Concord over the weekend.
Concord police and Contra Costa fire officials were called to the school for a report of a fire Sunday morning. The fire was extinguished, but the football field was significantly damaged.

Surveillance footage reportedly showed several people, possibly juveniles, setting off fireworks on the field the night before, which may or not may not have led to the fire, according to authorities.
Investigators are working to identify the people responsible. Anyone with information is asked to contact Concord Police Department Detective Lee Lawrence at (925) 671-3234.
