Australia’s world No.79 has stormed through the second-set tie-breaker to force a deciding set against American third seed Coco Gauff.
Tomljanovic was a set and 4-2 down, then failed to serve the second out at 5-4, and was two points from defeat at 0-30 at 5-6, but now she is going three sets.
Gauff isn’t Serena Williams, but this would be a titanic win for Tomljanovic, who clearly has an affinity with Arthur Ashe Stadium, where she ended the former world No.1’s career three years ago.
