William Nylander and Mitch Marner are going to be friendly enemies this season, but their NHL 26 ratings bring some debate after they ended up with the same overall.
Boasting new features, rosters, and animations, it’s going to be up to the fans to bring their favorite team a Stanley Cup, even if it’s virtually.
Comparing Marner and Nylander’s Ratings in NHL 26
Their release this season has sparked a bit of debate as well, and not just because it showed Mitch Marner trying to score on his old team, but rather his rating in the game.
Information released shows that Marner and Nylander both share a 92 overall rating in the game, with Nylander slightly edging him out. We’ll see Nylander with blistering speed, a heavy and accurate shot, while Marner is going to have incredible hands and defensive potential.
You also have to understand that Marner and Nylander are completely different players, so while they have the same rating they offer two entirely different play styles both in the video games and real life.
What the Ratings Say About the Maple Leafs’ Core
Well, we have Nylander at 92, and more than likely see Auston Matthews at 94 or 95. Matthew Knies will likely be a high 80’s player, meanwhile John Tavares will likely be the same, though his age might play a bit of a factor.
At least EA Sports recognizes the Maple Leafs’ dominance, and while they haven’t had the playoff success that fans want, it does show they at least still have the tools necessary to get something done.
It’s more about what the ratings for players like Morgan Rielly, Max Domi, and Joseph Woll look like that may signify whether their regression in game is reflective of their in-game performance; life imitating art if you will.
With a bunch of new role players, the team is going to have to rely on a group effort to recoup the points lost by Marner’s departure which is easier said than done.
But there’s a lot to be excited about, and at least if you don’t see the Leafs lift the Cup in real life, you can live out your dreams virtually.
