Former Australia captain Michael Clarke shared a big health update with fans on Wednesday, and revealed that he has a skin cancer removed from his nose. Clarke’s battle win cancer is not new. He was first diagnosed with skin cancer in 2006, and was also diagnosed with three non-melanoma lesions in 2019. Clark warned the fans about skin cancer and urged them to get their skin checked at regular intervals.

“Skin cancer is real! Especially in Australia. Another one cut out of my nose today. A friendly reminder to get your skin checked. Prevention is better than cure but in my case, regular check-ups and early detection is key. So grateful that @drbishsoliman_ got it early 💙. @australianskincancerfoundation,” Clarke wrote on Instagram.

Skin cancer is one of the most treatable cancers, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t carry risks. Early detection is key. If the cancer is caught early, the chances of survival are extremely high, but if it goes unnoticed and becomes metastatic, it could turn fatal.

‘I Am A Dad, I Don’t Want To Go Anywhere’Clarke earlier spoke about his battles with cancer. “I am a dad … I don’t want to go anywhere. The most important thing in the world is making sure I help my seven-year-old daughter (Kelsey Lee) and I guess set a good example for her,” he had told Daily Mail.

“To me, making sure I am putting sunscreen on so she can see it is not just me getting her to do it, it is dad doing it as well.”

Clarke was one of the prominent names in Australian cricket, and led them to win in the World Cup 2015. He announced his retirement from cricket the same year after the Ashes in England. The veteran played 115 Tests, 245 ODIs, and 34 T20Is, scoring of 16000 runs and 36 centuries across formats.
