Earlier this month, former In The Style founder Adam Frisby announced that he’s expecting his first child with partner of fourteen years, Jamie Corbett.

Having been in the public eye for over a decade, with Adam launching In The Style in 2013, the couple shared a post on social media revealing the scan photos and intimate moment they had the successful pregnancy confirmed.

Their social media post read: “Ahhh! Our biggest dream is finally coming true… WE’RE HAVING A BABY!!!. After many years of love, loss and hope… we held onto a dream we weren’t sure would ever be ours – and now, in just a few months, it will be.

“Words can’t capture how special this moment is for us. Sharing it with you all means the world, because so many of you have been part of our story… through your kindness, your messages of encouragement and your hope for us to become parents.”

Unfortunately, the couple shared that due to them choosing to go down the surrogacy route, they’ve been the recipients of a lot of online abuse.

They previously matched with a surrogate in 2022 but she miscarried and withdrew. Now they’ve made the decision to go across the pond to the US for the surrogacy.

During This Morning on Thursday (August 28), Adam and Jamie sat down with Rylan Clark and Josie Gibson.

Adam explained: “If we were going to have a baby in the UK and we use an egg donor, and then we use a surrogate who just carries a baby, legally at birth they are the mum. If they’re married, the husband is the dad, basically.

“So even though one of us will be the biological dad, the surrogate can technically change their mind at any time so then it would be a bit of a court battle… You’re just more protected in the US.”

Touching on the online abuse and homophobic comments, Adam continued: “When we put it online, we thought we’d get a couple of people who may not agree… But then we came across an online article that had two-and-a-half thousand horrendous comments.

“I’m talking child abusers, paedophiles, it was anything that I can’t even repeat on air. Since we posted on Instagram, we’ve started getting more and more hate comments on our post. I didn’t understand the level of homophobia that still exists, and also lack of education around how surrogacy works.”

Jamie added: “The comment that stands out to us as the most popular comment, I guess, is that we’re stealing a baby from a mother. So, if we can educate people that that isn’t how it works and tell people more about the process, maybe they wouldn’t think that.”

Adam then exclaimed: “I think what’s really scary is the amount of people that we looked at profiles and they’ve got children themselves. I think that’s a little bit scary for us that we’re bringing a baby into the world and they’re going to school with children that have parents with those views.”

Josie offered support as she said: “This little baby is gonna have the best life ever. I feel like you’ve been robbed of such a joyous time. You’re gonna make the most incredible dads.”

When asked if they have a message to say to the online “trolls”, Adam responded: “We are living our dream, and they are hiding behind their keyboards. Who’s the loser in this situation? Hopefully this educates a few people and more positivity.”
