Adelaide 36ers player Ben Griscti is in a stable condition after being injured when a backboard collapsed on top of him.

A spokesperson for the club confirmed reports that the 23-year-old was injured when a teammate’s dunk broke the backboard and brought the structure down during a training session on Saturday afternoon.

The incident happened at the AIS Arena in Canberra as the 36ers were preparing to face the Tasmania JackJumpers in the pre-season NBL Blitz tournament.

CODE Sports reported that Griscti was taken to the hospital in an ambulance roughly two hours after the incident.

A photograph taken by Herald Sun journalist Michael Randall showed the downed hoop, which reportedly fell on Griscti.
