Brisbane Broncos star Reece Walsh has gone viral for all the wrong reasons after uploading footage of himself drinking from the toilet.

The fullback took to Instagram to post about a new form of recovery for his muscles before he kneels down next to the toilet.

“They reckon there’s a new form of recovery to recover the muscles,” Walsh says in the footage.

“They reckon if you, you know toilet water, just get a little drink.”

Seconds later a flush can be heard before the camera flips around and Walsh begins scooping handfuls of water into his mouth.

The footage quickly spread across social media with fans left disgusted at what they were seeing.

The Broncos issued a statement as the footage continued to be shared across social media platforms, explaining the whole saga was a joke that had badly missed the mark.

“Brisbane Broncos are aware of a video posted by Reece Walsh on a social media platform,” the Broncos said in a statement.

“The club can clarify that Walsh is currently renovating his home and has installed a brand-new toilet in a new bathroom which remains unused.

“The video represents a poor attempt at humour posted privately by Walsh. No one should take this video seriously or act upon the advice.”

NRL legend Brad Fittler was quick to condemn Walsh over the toilet footage which he deleted shortly after.

“He’s taking the piss isn’t he,” Fitler said on 2GB.

“He’s gone too far there.

Journalist Adam Hawse hoped the footage didn’t reach the eyeballs of impressionable children and called for the star to take a break from posting.

“I’m lost for words, it’s been described as bizarre but that’s being kind I think,” Hawse said.

“I certainly hope kids didn’t watch that and take that advice.

“If we’re giving out advice Broncos, I’ll give you some advice … get Reece Walsh off social media.”

It’s not the first time Walsh has caused a stir with his social media activity after the Broncos were forced to investigate an upload in May.

An upload to Walsh’s own TikTok account showed him punching a man to the ground before it was taken down.

The clip, which you can watch here, shows Walsh in a social setting wearing a boxing glove and punching a friend in the head in an apparent prank between mates.

Walsh later posted on Instagram: “Just to add context to the video recently posted – it was a joke with me best mate no one was harmed, boys being boys”, along with a face palm emoji.

His friend wrote in an Instagram story: “Everything was for a laugh and nothing more … We have mucked around like this our whole life.”

The Broncos were said to be furious over the footage and Walsh’s decision to share it, especially in light of team’s struggling form on the field.

Walsh later appeared on the Today Show where he addressed the upload and admitted he’d gone too far.

The latest incident comes just days out from the Broncos final match of the season before their finals campaign gets underway.
