BOSTON, Mass. (WKBN) – The Cleveland Guardians have promoted former top prospect George Valera to the Major League roster.

His first appearance in a game with the Guardians will mark his Major League debut.

As of September 1, Major League teams are permitted to expand their rosters from 25 to 28 players.

The 24-year-old split the 2025 season between the Arizona Complex League and Triple-A Columbus.

At Triple-A, Valera was batting .255 with three home runs, six doubles, two triples and 10 RBIs in 28 games for the Clippers.

Valera, who was a top prospect for the Guardians as recently as 2022, originally signed with Cleveland as an international free agent in 2017.

In additional roster moves, the Guardians also recalled pitcher Zak Kent and outfielder Jhonkensy Noel from Triple-A Columbus.

Infielder Will Wilson was optioned to Triple-A.
