Alasdair Gold has revealed whether Tottenham Hotspur are expected to sign any more players before the 7 pm transfer deadline and explains why the club’s pursuit of a winger and a centre-back has gone cold over recent hours.
When Spurs fans woke up this morning, hardly anyone would have expected Tottenham to complete a deal for Randal Kolo Munai, with the transfer taking many by surprise.
The Lilywhites’ move for the Frenchman was perhaps partly down to the fact that Dominic Solanke’s injury is worse than initially feared. That may explain why it is a straight loan without an option or obligation to buy.
Some sources have said over recent hours that Spurs are not ruling out a late signing of a centre-back or a winger, but a fresh update has now suggested that those moves are unlikely.

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has now said that the French international is expected to be the final player to arrive through the door at Tottenham on transfer deadline day, barring any late surprises.
The journalist explains that Spurs had been exploring various options for a centre-back and a winger today, but none of the names high up on the club’s transfer list were available.
Additionally, he reasoned that the centre-backs that Thomas Frank would have wanted may not have wanted to play second-fiddle to Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, with Spurs deciding to keep their powder dry.
Why Tottenham have done the right thing by not panic buying
Fans always want to see more bodies through the door as they get a big dopamine hit when new signings are made, particularly on deadline day.
However, it would not make sense to spend big on players whom Frank and the Tottenham recruitment department are not 100 per cent convinced about.
Spurs would be better off going back in for the likes of Savinho or Rafael Leao in January rather than settling for a less ideal option right now.
