CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WTVD) — It was a rough Monday night for University of North Carolina fans, but there’s always basketball to look forward to.
On Tuesday, UNC men’s basketball head coach Hubert Davis met with the media for the first time since the Tar Heels’ NCAA tournament exit.
With the help of new general manager Jim Tanner, UNC has retooled its roster, spending more than $14 million in its quest to bring home a seventh national title.
There are 10 new players. Six are transfers, three are true freshmen, and one is an international talent.
As Davis enters his fifth year on the job, he’s chasing consistency in the win column, in the banner column, and ultimately in the brand of ball that is displayed on the court.
When asked whether he was feeling any sort of pressure, Davis said yes, he was.
“There is a pressure and an expectation for us to be good this year,” Davis said. “The standard is at the highest here, and I always talk to the guys that the standard is the standard.”
The Tar Heels’ first official day of practice is set for Sept. 22.
