Sorry, “MAGA Gang,” but Jimmy Kimmel has no intention of packing his bags and moving to Italy.

During his summer break, the Jimmy Kimmel Live! host appeared on the Sarah Silverman Podcast, and among a variety of topics, touched upon the state of politics in the United States and how celebrities having been leaving the country amid President Donald Trump‘s second term. “I did get Italian citizenship,” Kimmel told Silverman. “I do have that.” He added, “What’s going on is… as bad as you thought it was going to be, it’s so much worse. … I think it’s probably even worse than he would like it to be.” Although Kimmel did not cite Trump’s presidency for getting his Italian citizenship, Trump allies and conservative media fueled rumors that the comedian was leaving the country.

On Tuesday, Kimmel returned to his show and dispelled any speculation that he was fleeing amid his years-long feud with the president. After acknowledging that the “MAGA gang went nuts” after news of his newly obtained Italian citizenship and playing a reel of Fox News and Newsmax clips, Kimmel declared: “I’m not moving to Italy.”

“I never said that. This is where I live. This is my country. I have no intention of running away from it, especially because of Donald Trump,” continued the late-night host. “Let me tell you something, I would move into Mar-a-Lago if I could, just to drive him insane.”

For context, Kimmel said, “I’ve been trying to get Italian citizen for almost 20 years. I love Italy,” before joking, “Mostly what I like to do is bring my passport to parties and show it to people and make them jealous.”
