Australian made quantum processors have been switched on at a US facility that houses some of the world’s fastest super computers as part of a landmark hybrid computing research effort.
The hybrid approach could lead to new ways of simulating complex materials and chemicals and eventually enable entirely new ways to produce energy and pharmaceuticals.
Overnight, the US Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory announced the deployment, which uses Australian startup Quantum Brilliance’s small diamond-based quantum processors.
