Also in the line of fire is Kit Green, who alerted Lisa to his recent suspicions over DI Costello. Could he be in danger too?

Tonight’s episode saw love very much in the air after Lisa pulled off a surprise proposal for Carla Connor.

A panicked Carla and the machinists rushed outside the factory to see what the commotion was about, as the sound of sirens and Carla’s name was heard being called via a police loudspeaker.

Dressed in her police uniform, Lisa stepped out the car and declared her feelings for Carla, before getting down on one knee and popping the question.

Carla said yes and the happy couple proceeded to make a few stops around Weatherfield to share the good news.

First stop was Roy’s cafe, where Roy was delighted to learn of the upcoming nuptials. Kit Green was also at there and offered his congratulations to the couple before pulling Lisa aside for a quick work chat.

Kit told Lisa that Logan Radcliffe’s uncle had been brought in and Lisa warned Kit to give it up, mentioning how Logan gave Carla a dead-end lead about Tia Wardley.

Kit was taken aback by the information and went on to do some further digging back at the station.

He rang the prison and learned that Logan had been segregated for fighting shortly after Carla’s visit.

Alone at his desk in a later scene, Kit looked up Logan and Tia’s names on the computer to try and make sense of the information. He was interrupted by DI Costello, who ordered Kit to go home as it was after his working hours.

Kit found Lisa toasting her engagement with Carla and their friends in the Rovers Return and shared his theory that DI Costello is corrupt.

Lisa was shaken by Kit’s update and promised to pick it up tomorrow at work, having enjoyed too much prosecco to think clearly today.

On the phone back at the station, Costello informed someone of Kit looking into Tia Wardley.

“Got a feeling DS Swain has been whispering in his ear,” he said. “She’s getting a bit too close for comfort.”

He signed off the call: “It’s okay I’ll deal with Swain myself.”

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
